In August of 2023, Linus Drogs coordinated an iron pour, guided by local Detroit metal artists. Over the course of three days, participants got to create two-part molds of items they brought, and then cast those molds in molten iron. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience. Participants brought a creative variety of objects to be cast in iron: cast iron pans, hand-carved silhouettes, glass bowls, a book, and even ice cream cones! Check out photos of our adventures here.
We'll offer this activity again in August 2024.
In 2023, the cost was $250 per person, which included the education, guidance and materials for the iron pour. Costs for 2024 should be similar but will depend upon the number of participants.
